We are currently seeking an Inpatient DRG Validation & Coding Analyst. This position has the ability to work remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizing BESLER’s revenue integrity platform, review claims at all levels of complexity for inpatient claims.
  • Ability to read, decipher and analyze all aspects of medical record documentation for accurate coding.
  • Responsible for reviewing inpatient coding (ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes) to ensure accuracy and completeness of records coded by the coding staff for multiple clients.
  • Validate the ICD-10-CM and PCS codes, principal and secondary diagnoses.
  • Assignment appropriateness to ensure consistency and efficiency and to optimize DRG reimbursement and facilitate data quality in hospital inpatient services.
  • Review physician documentation for specificity, completeness, and quality to support coding accuracy, and to identify physician query opportunities to improve the documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory agencies standards, i.e., CMS, OIG, AHA, Coding Clinics, etc.
  • Maintain required coding credential(s).
  • Seeks opportunities for individual growth and development, including attending various meetings, conferences, and courses, as required.
  • Responsible for meeting departmental productivity and quality expectations.
  • Consult with client organizations and their department heads at the direction of the service line director.
  • Collaborate with other service line team members to meet client demands and to develop strategies for service line growth and operational improvement.
  • Communicate consistently with all project team members and general BESLER colleagues regarding the status and results of service line business operations.
  • Contribute to developing coding education and training and institutional coding policies to achieve coding excellence and to enhance internal, proprietary software used as an analytical tool.
  • Carry out all other ad hoc requests as determined by business needs.
  • Travel to client sites may be required.
  • This position performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated abilities and experience in the following areas:

  • A minimum, 5+ years’ experience with Coding IP Claims.
  • Experience with Medicare and Medicaid DRGs.
  • Experience with DRG validation.
  • Experience with OP coding a plus.
  • Strong coding knowledge and follow the official coding rules, guidelines, and conventions to validate coded data and ensure high quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use of computer applications in the EHR (i.e., Cerner, EPIC, Meditech, etc.) and knowledge in DRG grouping software.
  • Computer proficiency as related to MS Office and in-house proprietary software.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in hospital/healthcare settings such as revenue cycle, coding, and reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS required.
  • ICD-10-CM/PCS AHIMA Approved Trainer experience highly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with high-level of management.
  • Detailed-oriented and able to meet targeted deadlines.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, Associates in Health Information Technology minimally acceptable
  • RHIA or RHIT a plus, CCS credential required.

We are currently seeking Manager for our Revenue Integrity Service Team with experience in validation and rule design. This position has the ability to work remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement complex validation rules and edits within the revenue integrity platform.
  • Analyze claims data, identify trends, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate potential revenue leakage and ensure accurate reimbursement.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of claims data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance on revenue integrity processes, coding guidelines, and validation rules.
  • Analyze revenue integrity data to identify trends, measure key performance indicators (KPIs), and generate reports for management.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional projects related to revenue integrity initiatives.
  • Assists leads in preparing material for client meetings.
  • Reviews rejections with team to prepare rebuttal if assistance is needed.
  • Take the lead to demonstrate the product to the new client and any new releases.
  • Prepare white papers, material for podcasts and webinars on behalf of the organization.
  • Support and engage in education presentations (both face-to-face and remotely) associated with audit and review activities.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated abilities and experience in the following areas:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field. Associates in health information technology, minimally acceptable.
  • CCDS or CDIP and CCS credential required.
  • A minimum, 5+ years’ experience with inpatient coding/billing.
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with a strong focus on revenue integrity.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing and developing revenue integrity teams.
  • Demonstrates competency in use of computer applications including abstracting and encoding software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and identify trends.
  • DRG grouper software, MS office and hospital information systems.
  • Experience with revenue cycle management in a large healthcare organization.
  • Expertise in healthcare coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 required; ICD-10 Trainer experience highly desired.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate with high-level management.
  • Ability to synthesize regulatory requirements and apply to business projects/activities on a regular basis.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Experience in Rule making and automating processes.
  • Proficient in Payer timely filing periods.
  • Understanding of EOB and hospital billing form (UB-04) requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (experience using Microsoft Access is a plus).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review patient medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for diagnoses and procedures
  • Interact with Coding Managers, CDI and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information
  • Adheres to Coding guidelines as printed in Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic.
  • Communicate consistently with all project team members and general BESLER colleagues regarding the status and results of service line business operations.
  • Carry out all other ad hoc requests as determined by business needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain all professional credentials, as necessary to maintain the requirements of the position.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated abilities and experience in the following areas:

  • CCS credential required – having achieved this at least 4 years prior to application for position.
  • RHIA or RHIT preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of Inpatient coding experience.
  • Demonstrates competency in use of computer applications in EHR (i.e. Cerner, Epic, Meditech, etc.) and knowledge in Coding software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in hospital/healthcare settings such as revenue cycle, coding, and reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with high level of management.
  • Detail oriented and able to meet targeted deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Able to multitask, be flexible, remain composed under pressure, support teammates, and think critically.
